The Forum Steglitz is a shopping centre at Schloßstraße 1 in Berlin’s Steglitz-Zehlendorf district. Historically, there has been a weekly market, the so-called Bornmarkt, on the area of the Forum Steglitz since 1908. With its opening in 1970, Forum Steglitz was one of the first shopping centres in Germany. Characteristic of the year of construction, the Forum Steglitz is characterised by a steel skeleton construction and a stringent geometric design. With strong consideration of the inventory, the Forum Steglitz is to be extensively refurbished and re-positioned as a “hybrid center” with a focus on urban local supply. On the upper floors, which were formerly used as sales areas, offices are now being built on approx. 10,000m². The Forum Steglitz is thus a prime example of a re-development of a large retail property.
